Fiction series Waaris is bracing for a major twist. A lie will finally be exposed in the upcoming episodes of the show. Amba, the character played by Aarti Singh, has successfully hidden the identity of her daughter Manpreet (played by Saniya Touqeer), masquerading her as a boy for seven long years. Only Amba’s brother Beeru and her daughter Simran knew the truth all along. In Punjab, where gender inequality is quite prominent, Amba feared for the life of her daughter, hence, to protect her she raises her up like a boy. But as Manu began to grow older, she becomes rebellious and starts to question her mother on various restrictions imposed on her.

While the mother and daughter are having their share of tussle, Dhaniya, the village eunuch, begins to suspect Manu’s identity assuming she too is a transgender. Therefore, her mother Amba is trying to conceal her identity. This assumption will lead to a numerous twists and eventually in a high voltage drama Amba will reveal the true identity of Manu leaving her shattered and shocked. Talking about the same Aarti says, “I would like to convey that a girl child is no less than a boy and I urge everyone to treat them equally. I feel happy to be a part of a show like Waaris and the show has eventually reached the high point where the truth is being revealed. It’s a high drama sequence. I am very excited to shoot it. The sequence will give all the actors involved an opportunity to bring their best onscreen. We have received a lot of love and appreciation for portraying such a different concept on TV and we hope post the revelation, the momentum of the show increases.”
