Kawach to go off air to make way for Naagin 2

The first season of Naagin ended with a staggering TRP of 5.8, setting a new benchmark for the success of weekend shows. The response generated by the show surprised the channel and even producer Ekta Kapoor. Hence Naagin, which was slated to end earlier, was dragged on for some more time at the behest of the channel. But Ekta was very keen on ending it while it continued to rule the roost and took it off air. After Naagin ended, the big challenge was to fill the slot with an equally gripping show and so supernatural thriller Kawach was brought into the picture by the same producer. Loyal Naagin viewers however, were not able to connect with the show the way they did with its predecessor, dipping its rating. The buzz at Balaji now is that Kawach in all likelihood will have a premature end to make way for the new season of Naagin. A source says, “Ekta is very upset with the dismal ratings of Kawach. She was confident that it will supersede Naagin. The channel now fears losing the audience in that coveted slot and is pressurising Ekta to get Naagin back. If things go according to the plan, Kawach may be pulled off air prematurely to make way for Naagin 2.”
