Users find it easier to carry big-screened phones as compared to tablets

Since we all have different palm sizes, using the same-sized smartphone is not always convenient. While some may prefer a smaller iPhone SE-sized device, others make do with calling tablets.

People are still finding the perfect smartphone size which can offer them both comfort and viewing pleasure. It wasn't long ago when Korean giant, Samsung gave the world its initial big-screened phablet series, the Galaxy Note. On receiving an overwhelming response, Samsung started a new fad of large-screen smartphones in the industry.

These big screen smartphones, often referred as phablets when they are above 5-inches, bear a resemblance to small tablets, arguably fulfilling the job of a smartphone as well as a tablet. Phones that were previously considered oversized have now become a powerful media consumption tool for the masses. Here are a few phablets that break the 6-inch mark:

LeEco Le Max: The LeEco Le Max was introduced to the Indian market in February. The Le Max is built around the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset and paired with 4GB of RAM. The IPS LCD display on the smartphone measures a colossal 6.3-inches with a 1440 x 2560 pixel resolution and sporting a pixel density of 463ppi. The screen is protected with a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 panel for scratch resistance. The Le Max also sports an all-metal body with a fingerprint sensor for added security.

The Le Max packs in a 21-megapixel rear camera with f/2.0 wide aperture, autofocus, OIS and dual-LED (dual tone) flash, along with a 4-megapixel front-facing camera with a 1/3-inch sensor. The smartphone is fuelled by a 3400mAh battery for a day-long use. Overall the handset is a good offering from LeEco's vault that manages to get many things right as a flagship device. Some top-end features with zippy performance makes this phablet a good choice for people looking for an efficient, big-screen device.

The Le Max is priced at Rs 32,999 and Rs 36,999 for the 64GB and 128GB versions, respectively. LeEco had also announced a limited edition of the Le Max, which boasts of a sapphire glass for the display, and priced at Rs 69,999. It may sound little risky to shell out the huge sum on a new, unknown brand, especially when there are a number of reputed brands available in this segment. The LeEco Le Max, however, is indubitably capable of changing your perception.

Honor Note 8: Honor will soon be bringing this phablet to India to compete with the likes of Xiaomi's Mi Max. Currently, available for sale only in China and is expected to launch in India this month.

The phablet offers a gigantic 6.6-inch Quad HD display with 1440 x 2560 pixel resolution with a 2.5D curved glass protection. It is powered by the company's own Kirin 955 octa-core processor and backed by 4GB of RAM and a Mali T880-MP4 graphics processing unit.

The Honor Note 8 features a 13MP sensor camera with an F/2.0 aperture, optical image stabilization (OIS) and a dual-LED flash. An 8MP front snapper is available for the selfie maniacs. The Note 8's 4,500mAh battery should provide enough power to keep the large screen and other components running all day. With good looks and better specifications, this one could be Honor's answer to Xiaomi's Mi Max or other reputed phablets.

The Note 8 is available in three variants, 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB and is expected to be priced between Rs 23,100 and Rs 28,100.

Xiaomi Mi Max: Xiaomi unveiled its weapon for the big screen battle, dubbed as the Mi Max, on June 30 this year. The phablet can be considered as a bigger iteration of the Redmi Note 3, which focuses mainly on content consumption — especially videos.

Sporting a huge 6.44-inch IPS LCD display, the Mi Max has a screen resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels with a pixel density of 342 ppi. A Corning Gorilla Glass 4 is responsible for the protection of the display. Powered by a hexa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 SoC, 3GB of RAM, and 32GB of storage (expandable), the Mi Max is priced at a reasonable Rs 14,999. Xiaomi, unfortunately, has not brought the higher-end variant to India. The higher version packs an octa-core Snapdragon 652 SoC with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage with an approximate price tag of Rs 19,999.

The optics on the phablet sports a 16MP rear camera with an f/2.0 aperture, phase detection autofocus and a dual tone LED flash. As for selfies, the smartphone packs a 5MP front-facing camera. The Mi Max is fuelled by a massive 4850mAh battery, which will keep your device running for at least 2 to 3 days without the need for a charger. However, the battery life depends completely on your usage.
