The Moto E4 and E4 Plus will be Motorola's answer to budget category rules by Xiaomi and the likes.

The E4 twins might also offer a 5 inch and a 5.5 inch display.

Motorola has started 2017 on a high note with the launch of the Moto G5 a few days ago and it seems they are on a complete model lineup revamp of their offerings. Two phones with model numbers XT1762 and XT1773; probably the Moto E4 and E4 Plus have appeared to receive the FCC certification. This means that we could be looking at the successor to Motorola’s budget hero very soon.

The leak comes from tipster Roland Quandt and he brings out reports suggesting that the fourth generation of the E series will have two separate models with slightly differing specifications. He claims that both the models will commonly feature dual-SIM, 4G LTE, Bluetooth 4.2, 2.4 GHz WiFi and at least 16GB of internal storage. The difference will be in the battery capacities, with the standard E4 having a 2800mAh battery and the E4 Plus variant featuring a 5000mAh battery. We also assume that the standard variant will come with a 5 inch HD screen whereas the E4 Plus might rock a 5.5 inch Full-HD screen. Rolant also claims that both the 4th generation Moto E twins might have MediaTek SoCs underneath and will run on Motorola’s version of Android Nougat 7.0.

Motorola launched the E3 Power last year with a MediaTek MT6735P chipset, 2GB RAM, 16GB storage, an 8 MP rear camera, a 5 MP front camera and a 5 inch 720p display. The phone featured a 3500mAh battery and was priced at Rs 7,999.

Motorola has some serious competition in the budget segment in the form of Xiaomi’s Redmi 3S and the upcoming Redmi 4S series, LeEco Le2, Lenovo Vibe K5 and A7700 as well as various budget offerings from Samsung and Micromax.

However, the information on the 4th generation Moto E twins is still not confirmed and we will have to wait for an official confirmation from Motorola on these speculations.
