Apple iPhone 8 sales will be strong, says CEO
Tim Cook did not, however, mention it in specifics about the iPhone 8 which will help the company recover in the next quarter.
With Apple’s FY17 Q3 financial results out earlier today — revealed that the iPhone sales had declined from the previous quarter. On the contrary, iPhone sales increased as compared to the same quarter the year before.
Although revenue, profit, and iPhone sales dropped from Q2, Apple’s CEO Tim Cook had acknowledged in an interview with the Wall Street Journal that its flagship device was indeed struggling. But they suggested that the company expected it to recover in the next quarter, mostly thanks to new devices.
Tim Cook said, “We’ve got some momentum. A lot of things we have been working on a long time are beginning to show in the results. We believe there is a pause, but that probably, but that probably bodes well for the future.”
Tim Cook did not, however, mention it in specifics about the iPhone 8 which is slated for this September launch, will help the company recover in the next quarter.
With the most probably launch in September alongside the new iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus, the iPhone 8 is however slated to hit the shelves at a later time, mostly because of supply issues which Apple is experiencing with a number of parts, including OLED displays manufactured by Google.
Cook sounds confident that the iPhone 8 will increase sales, and analysts have projected the new model to be the best-selling iPhone in history, despite its price tag which is likely to start at $1,200.
Furthermore, Cook says that not only the iPhone 8 is projected to increase sales, but iOS 11, which should be finalized in September and is slated to come with a host of new features.
In a separate interview with the CNBC, Cook says, ““The smart phone is becoming even more important to people because it’s going across so much of your life and you can tell by some of the things we did at WWDC that that will only continue. And with things like AR, I think it becomes even more essential than it currently is. I know it’s hard to believe, but I think that’s the case.”
The iOS 11 is already in beta at this point after the company first presented it at the WWDC earlier this year, and it should be ready in September when Apple takes the wraps off the new iPhones. The new OS will be running by default on the iPhone 7s, 7s Plus, and 8.
