Lucknow: Parents can now keep an eye on the browsing activities of their children through a newly-developed mobile application “Narad”.

Named after the famous mythological character, it will snoop on the Internet activities of children. The application has been developed by Banaras Hindu University neurologist Vijay Nath Misra, who had recently developed an app called “Har Har Mahadev” that blocks porn sites.

“Parents can track the browsing activities of their children by downloading the application on their devices. There will be an option for parents to include up to five numbers in their phones which are to be tracked,” said Dr Misra.

He stated that it is a major concern of parents to protect their children from vulgarity that is easily accessible on the Internet. This application has been developed to help them and it will be available within a fortnight. The app will let the parents know about all the sites being visited by the children, including dangerous games like Blue Whale and even whether they are visiting suicide sites.

“The parents can take corrective measures to help the child and provide him psychiatric he-lp, if needed. ‘Narad’ will be in the command of the parents and kids need not know that they are being monitored,” he said.

It is noteworthy that after a number of deaths of children due to the Blue Whale challenge, the centre had expressed its helplessness to ban the game since it was technically not possible to do so.

“With ‘Narad’ , parents will instantly know if their children is playing this game or visiting other dangerous sites. If the government provides us support, we may even be able to devise a mechanism to block such sites’, he said.
