While Sony and Microsoft are busy trading blow, people often overlook the other conferences, so let’s not make the same mistake.

As a die hard fan of Star Wars, I’d be remiss if I didn’t put Battlefront 2 in this list. While the previous reboot was a disaster on many fronts, Battlefront 2 seems more or less as an attempt to fix all these issues. With a new class based team system, better and more varied vehicles and a more in-depth hero versus hero mode and a story mode the game certainly seems to be on the right track.

Next up, we have Need For Speed Payback. This fallen giant of the racing world is trying to reclaim its throne  Moving on to Ubisoft, one game literally came out of nowhere and caught all us viewers in the gut, I am of course talking about Beyond Good and Evil 2. Don’t be fooled by the name though, despite the ‘2’ in the title, this game is a prequel to the original, set in a vast solar system called System 3. The trailer showed that the characters still retain their rib-splitting sense of humour, however, there is a definite shift away from the PG-13 nature you might expect.

They also announced a brand new IP called Skull  and Bones. Set in 1721, players will get control over their very own pirate ship and will have to navigate through a world that is crafted by the community and their respective crews. Unfortunately, we all will have to wait till Fall 2018 to get our hands on this

My last pick of the conferences was the Age of Empires: Definitive Edition announcement made at PC Gamer’s conference. To mark the 20th anniversary of this iconic game, Microsoft has gone ahead and remastered the original game from the ground up, with improved gameplay, brand new tilesets and animations, a fully remastered soundtrack along with a completely revamped lobby system. Moreover the UI for control group, attack-move and idle villagers have also been “modernised”.

All in all, this year’s E3 may not have been the most feature packed one, however it did give us enough meat to chew on for the upcoming year. There were some truly fantastic games that were showcased and I for one am pumped for the year to come in the ever changing and evolving world of gaming.
