Top seeded Divya Deshpande and unseeded Tanmay Rane bagged their respective women’s and men’s singles titles in the  MCF-4 Star All Mumbai ranking tournament in Borivali.

International player Divya settled the pretensions of junior Anannya Basak, who had caused flutters by upsetting a couple of seeds on her way to the title round. But stylish Divya, displaying superb footwork and hitting her forehands with telling effect gave her no chance whatsoever and won 12-10, 11-3, 11-6, 11-8). In fact, Anannya, who was in line for a double, having made the final of youth girls singles as well, ended second best in both the events. Top seeded Aditi Sinha too overpowered her in straight games to clinch the youth girls title.

Unseeded Tanmay, however, after losing the first game, dominated third seeded Viren Patel to canter to  7-11, 11-4, 11-8, 13-11, 11-1 win. However, for Tanmay, it was a mixed day as after winning  the men’s singles final, he was defeated by Jignesh Rahatwal in a thrilling youth boys final, which went to the wire, before Jignesh triumphed 13-11, 9-11, 11-9, 7-11, 11-9, 11-7.

Spirited display by energetic Sampada Bhiwandkar, saw her winning  both the junior and sub-junior girls singles finals. Sampada’s victim in both the finals was the bespectacled Nimisha Warang.
