Khar Gymkhana (KG) Wanted and Juhu Vile Parle Gymkhana (JVPG) Cue Masters recorded contrasting victories to advance to the quarterfinals of the Otters Club Mumbai Snooker League (MSL) 2017, conducted by the Billiards and Snooker Association of Maharashtra (BSAM).

In rounds of 32 matches, KG trailed 1-2 but recovered strongly with Sahil Kakkad and captain Harmehr Mago comfortably winning the last two frames to clinch a close 3-2 victory at the Otters Club Billiards Hall, late on Thursday evening.

Meanwhile, Hushang Mazdayasna and Ronnie Daruwalla played stellar roles in guiding Dadar Parsee Colony Gymkhana (DPCG) Kamakazee’s to a fluent 3-1 win against Dadar Club Supremos in another round of 32 encounter.

DPCG won the first frame as Mazdayasna and Cyrus Kyani (+29 handicap) put a strong fight and won the doubles tie defeating Rajit Mehta and Ambarish Gharpure (+33) 84-43. The Dadar Parsee side, however, lost the second frame as Mayur Shah (+55) 84-104 beat Malcom Kapadia (+45).

Later, DPCG skipper Ronnie Daruwalla (+40) came up with a solid performance against Dadar Club’s consistent performer Viraj Joshi (+50) and went on to score a close 109-94 win and level the match scores at 2-all. In the decider, Mazdayasna (+45) potted well and tamed Mayur Shah (+55) 112-72 to secure DPCG’s win and a passage to the last round of 16.
