Gauri, Ronil book spots in Faldo Series India final

Hitting the lowest gross scores in their respective categories, the Vijay Divecha pupils are heading to the final round.

Mumbai’s Gauri Kharade and Ronil Kakodkar, booked their spots in the IIFL Wealth Golf Invitational Faldo Series, India final at the IIFL Wealth Golf Invitational Faldo Series India  regional qualifiers during a windy day in Ahmedabad. Playing at the award winning Kalhaar Blues and  Greens Golf Course, Ahmedabad, Gauri playing off a handicap of 10, shot a Gross Score of 80, while Ronil playing off a handicap of 8, shot a Gross Score of 82.

With the lowest gross scores in their categories, both Gauri and Ronil have secured slots in the IFL Wealth Invitational Faldo Series, India final in the U-21 Girls and U-18 Boys category, respectively.

Gauri who has been on the golf course since the age of eight has been training with renowned Golf Coach Vijay Divecha since 2015 in Ahmedabad at Kalhaar Blues and Greens and took full advantage of her knowledge of her home-course while securing the lowest Gross Score in her category (U-21) on the day.

Gauri is also runner-up of US Kid Golf European championships that  was conducted at the Luffness New Golf Club, East Lothian in Scotland in May 2017.

Fellow Vijay Divecha pupil, Ronil also booked his spot with a Gross Score of 82 in the U-18 Category. Joining the two Mumbaikars were Chandigarh’s Manya Saini, who secured the lowest Gross Score on the day of 79, playing off a nine handicap in the U-16 Girls Category.

Five players from the IIFL Wealth Golf Invitational Faldo Series India regional qualifiers, Gauri Kharade, Manya Saini, Dhruv Suri, Ronil Kakodkar and Abhiraj Chauhan have now secured a spot in the IIFL Wealth Invitational Faldo Series, India final in the U-21 Girls, U-16 Girls, U-21 Boys, U-18 Boys and U-16 Boys categories, respectively.

The regional qualifiers of the IIFL Wealth Golf Invitational Faldo Series-India, Ahmedabad was the first of seven regional qualifier events that will culminate in the finals in January.

Pro-Am hits big

The fifth edition of ‘The Golf Foundation Pro- Am Championship’ will be held at the Bombay Presidency Golf Club, Chembur, Mumbai on Sunday. The venue is currently hosting the CG Open 2017.

The Pro-Am will witness participation from 25 professionals from the Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI) circuit and 75 enthusiastic corporate golfers.

The tournament will be followed by Lunch and Prize presentation at the club itself and will be graced by Abhishek Bachchan, Zaira Wasim, Papa CJ and Charu Sharma amongst others.

The Golf Foundation promoted golf by supporting underprivileged golfers. The foundation was founded by Amit Luthra who has been India’s National champion, Asian Games Gold medalist & Arjuna Awardee.
