His voice still continues to resonate with ghazal aficionados around the world. Jagjit Singh had a voice like none other, and a style of his own. The trailblazer was a composer, a singer, a lyricist and an arranger, all in one. Commemorating the ghazal maestro’s fifth death anniversary, Godrej Culture Lab is all set to host Mehfil-e-Jagjit.

The gathering will highlight the life of the legendry singer, who once showcased esoteric ghazals. Sathya Saran, author of Jagjit’s biography, Baat Niklegi Toh Phir: The Life and Music of Jagjit Singh will take attendees on a multimedia journey. Sathya wrote a book about a year after the legend’s death and considers herself lucky enough to have all the support from his close friends and family. “I knew him and Chitra (Singh) through the interviews I did with them for a magazine. I was lucky enough to have the support of the people who were close to him and were available to meet me. I found a strong voice in Chitra,” she says. Sathya will be narrating interesting anecdotes from the book, she says, “I’ll be talking about the milestones of his life, with clips from his most iconic movies, and rare personal pictures. I’ll also be sharing some personal and professional anecdotes from the book I’ve written on him. The session will be followed by a live ghazal performance.” Listen to stories of struggle and success, of sorrow and courage that touch our hearts.

Today, 5 pm onwards At Auditorium, (First Floor) Godrej ONE, Vikhroli (East) The event is free and open to all
