Musicians Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy may have their plate full with projects, but that doesn’t stop them from giving back to society. The trio have associated with Cancer Patients Aid Association (CPAA), an organisation that has been working towards the welfare of cancer patients for the last 47 years. The musicians will perform live today for the Music for a Cause concert, which has been organised to spread awareness about the ills of tobacco.

For Ehsaan Noorani, the cause is very personal considering that his mother is a cancer survivor. He recalls, “When I went with my mother to Tata Memorial Hospital for her radiation treatments, the scariest thing for me was witnessing teenagers who had been operated because they had mouth or throat cancer from chewing gutka.” He continued, “You hear instances about how terrible cancer is but having seen it with my own eyes, this is a cause, which I personally support wholeheartedly.” The music composer further stated that it has been nearly two decades since he himself quit smoking.

The trio have performed at a number of charity and awareness concerts including a leprosy awareness concert with Alert India and a fundraiser for education of the girl child. This is the third time that they are performing for the cause of cancer awareness. Loy Mendosa elaborates, “We try to give back where we can and music is a great platform for spreading awareness.”
