Kary Arora has had an interesting journey in music. She started out a professional DJ in Delhi before moving to Mumbai in 2011 to further her career. She has worked in the music industry and dabbled in rapping, writing lyrics, grunge singing and more. She then got a chance to work with Ram Gopal Varma and her song Satya Is Back Again got featured in Satya 2. The latest feather in her cap is the track Tinko Ke Sahare for Angry Indian Goddesses. Right now she’s enjoying the transition from DJing to a music composer. We caught up with her for a rapid-fire and here’s what she revealed:

What’s the one song you hear on loop these days My new composition Yaadein Bachpan Ki.

Five songs in the soundtrack of your life. My own song Tinko Ke Sahare, because it’s my life’s story, I’ll Be There For You by Rembrants, because that’s exactly what me and my friends are, Independent Woman by Destiny’s Child; it represents my personality, Faith by George Michael — that’s how I’m in love and Jeena Issi Ka Naam Hai by Shanker Jaikishen because that’s my attitude towards life.

A song for when you are happy, low and one for the workout: When happy, of course it’s Happy by Pharrell Williams. My song when low is Tinko Ke Sahare again and my workout song would be Iron Man by Black Sabbath.

What’s your favourite time of the day to listen to music I’m extremely moody, so it all depends how I feel at what time of the day or night.

If you could have one band or a musician perform a private concert for you, who would it be It’s so difficult to choose one. If I could, I want to bring back Charlie Chaplin. He was an amazing composer and entertainer.

And which is the one live act you would love to see at least once in your life A Comedy Central Roast featuring music personalities.
