Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde has announced that his party would take care of medical expenses of the 22-year-old girl who was thrown out of a moving train by a man after the two had a petty dispute.

Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde has announced that his party would take care of medical expenses of the 22-year-old girl who was thrown out of a moving train by a man after the two had a petty dispute.

The incident took place on June 16 when the victim, Rekha Navale, arrived at Mumbai from Nashik with her mother, Sarika, in the Kashi Express. When the train halted at Igatpuri railway station, the accused — Dinesh Yadav (30) — entered the ladies compartment. Ms Navale and her mother asked him to leave, but the man refused to shift to another compartment and started quarrelling with them.

When the train reached Kalyan station, the victim again asked the man to leave the bogie or she would complain to police about his presence in the ladies compartment. By that time the train had started moving again, the accused, holding Navale by her throat, allegedly threw her out of the running train.

Commuters and Sarika Navale accosted Yadav and handed him over to the government railway officials at Thane station. He was remanded to police custody till June 20. Navale was rushed to Fortis Hospital. Her hand and legs were severely injured, and doctors said she would need a month to recover.

On Sunday, Mr Shinde visited the hospital, inquired about Navale’s well being and announced that aid would be given to her. “The Sena will bear all of Rekha Navale’s medical expenses. Shiv Sena, formed on June 19, 1966, is celebrating its 50th foundation day today. The Sena was born to lend a helping hand to the needy,” he said.
