A repeat offender who has a string of cases filed against him in Saphale, Manor, Palghar and other police stations in Palghar district has been barred from entering Palghar, Thane and Mumbai police districts for two years, confirmed API Mansinh Patil of Saphale police station.

The accused, Mithun Patil, has been barred from entering these three districts for two years under the Bombay Police Act 1951 on the orders of Shivaji Davbhat, Sub Divisional Officer (SDO), Palghar, said API Patil.

Between 2010 and 2014, Mithun had a rash of criminal cases registered against him with Saphale and Manor police stations, which included section 307 (attempt to murder) of the IPC and running a vehicle over a police officer during a crime. Hence, he was deemed a threat to residents of these areas and society at large, said API Patil. So much so, people were scared to register cases with the police and the police had to initiate action against him.

“On April 27, 2015, the then superintendent of police (SP), Palghar, Mohammed Suvez Haque, had written to the SDO, Palghar, to bar Mithun from entry and the decision was taken by the SDO, Palghar, on Friday,” said API Patil.
