Mob beats up man who tried to rape minor

A mob beat up a middle-aged man who had allegedly forcibly entered the house of an 11-year-old girl and tried to rape her.

Binduraj Chauhan (35), allegedly entered the girl’s house located in Achchole Road, Nala Sopara (east) when she was alone on Wednesday evening. Her parents were away at work.

The terrified girl screamed for help and Chauhan, who is a neighbour, bolted the door from the inside, sources said. On hearing the girl’s screams, a mob came to the rescue of the victim. It also beat up Chauhan. They later handed him over to the Tulinj police.

“We were informed by a caller and we rushed to the spot and prevented Chauhan being beaten to death and admitted him to a government hospital,” said PI Prakash Birajdar of the Tulinj police station.

“We have arrested Chauhan for rape, trepass and also booked him under sections of the Protection of Children Against Sexual Offences Act 2012,” said Mr Birajdar.
