As several parts of the city — including Hindmata, Sion, King’s Circle and Parel TT — witnessed a flood-like situation following heavy rains on Friday, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s (BMC) tall claims of good monsoon preparations, too, were washed away. The deluge led to major traffic jams forcing the BMC to divert nearly 30 BEST buses. Office-goers and train commuters were the worst hit. Most of the suburban trains to and fro the Central line were halted between 11.30 am and 12 noon. Harbour and Western lines trains ran late by up to 30 minutes. The BMC has attributed the flooding to a combination of heavy rainfall and high tide ranging up to 4.47m at 2 pm on Friday.
