Students from Mumbai made the city proud by grabbing the top spots in both the health sciences and technology sections in the much-awaited Maharashtra Common Entrance Test (MHT-CET) results, which were declared online after midnight on Wednesday, catching students totally unawares. The results had been expected to be out during the day.

Rishabh Raut secured the top spot with a 200 score in PCB (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) while Aman Framewala and Chinmay Ghanekar shared the top spot jointly in PCM (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics) with a score of 199. According to officials from the State CET Cell that conducted the tests, all students were awarded two marks for erroneous questions and marks were scored out of 200 in both faculties.

The results for health sciences saw an overall pass percentage of 16.98 per cent. According to Dr Pravin Shingare, director, Directorate of Medical Education and Research (DMER) a total of 4,09,275 students had registered for the exams that were held on May 5, of which 3,98,043 students appeared.

“Even though the results have been declared, the merit lists will be declared after 10 days,” said Dr Shingare when asked about the toppers in the city and state.
