The Thane Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Thane on Wednesday evening arrested two government employees of the Deputy Superintendent of Land Survey, Vasai for accepting a Rs 2-lakh bribe from a man to issue a land survey report and an authorised government land map. The complainant registered the case in September 2015 and the ACB finally nabbed the duo when they were caught red-handed accepting the bribe.

Dipesh Ramakant Pimple, who is employed as a surveyor, and Samsu Ratna Pathra, who is employed as a peon with the deputy superintendent of land survey, had allegedly demanded the bribe to complete the official formalities.

Dattatray Karale, SP, ACB Thane, has confirmed the arrest. The accused demanded the bribe in September 2015 and again in October 2015, and had said that they would take the money only after the completion of work. After that, the demand was again made on May 30 and we laid a trap to catch them red-handed, said the official.

“The department maintained secrecy for eight months and we finally arrested the duo,” said Mr Karale. They have been arrested the duo under the Prevention of Corruption Act 1988. When produced before the ACB court, Thane, on Thursday the duo was remanded to police custody till Saturday. They will also be suspended from their jobs for their corruption, said a government source.
