No one knows why pianist had ‘jumped’

Mumbai: More than three weeks after the case of Karan Joseph’s death was transferred to crime branch unit 3, the police are yet to find the reason behind him taking such a drastic step. The crime branch officials have questioned Joseph’s roommate Rishi Shah over three times, but no concrete evidence has been found against anybody. Joseph, a Bangalore-based pianist had moved to the city in August this year and had allegedly committed suicide by leaping off from the 12th floor window of Shah’s flat at Concorde in Bandra West on September 16.

The police officials, who are investigating the alleged suicide, have said that despite questioning Shah over three times, no conclusions have been drawn by the cops. Soon after Joseph’s death, his family and friends had alleged that Shah was a bad influence on him and was the reason why Joseph was consuming drugs. Following these claims, the family had registered a case of abetment to suicide against Shah, whose investigation is still underway.

A source in Bandra police, on the condition of anonymity told The Asian Age, “The case is still on the same point where it was before the crime branch had taken over, with no concrete progress made.”

“When the Bandra police was investigating, we had landed on some leads, but the case was transferred at the nick of time,” the police official added.
