Man arrested for raping ex-lover

Mumbai: The Boisar police in Palghar arrested a 23-year-old man for holding captive his former lover in a lodge and sexually assaulting her in the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday. The incident was reported by the girl after she was released from the spot.

The arrested accused has been identified as Faizal Saifi who targeted the 21-year-old girl, his former lover. The police said that the duo was in a relationship since 2017 and had gone separate ways recently.

However, after they broke up, Saifi began blackmailing the woman using a sex clip that he had fraudulently recorded with her.

“He started demanding sexual favours from her and threatened to release the clip in the public domain if she refused to fulfill his demands,” said an officer of Palghar police.

He threatened the woman and demanded that she meet him Monday night. He lured her with deleting the video in her presence. However, after she reached there, Saifi held her in captivity and later raped her, the officers said. He released her Tuesday morning.  Soon after she was released, the woman approached the police and lodged a complaint against him. The police recorded her detailed statement and registered a case against Saifi.

The accused was booked for forced confinement and rape as per the Indian Penal Code and has been remanded to police custody for further investigation in the case.
