CM Fadnavis meets party observer, sparks off cabinet rejig buzz

Mumbai: A buzz on the possibility of a cabinet reshuffle has started doing the rounds in the state’s political circles again. Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis reportedly met V. Satish, an observer of the party on Friday to discuss the cabinet rejig. There are also reports that the BJP high command has asked V Satish to convey the message of ‘party work’ to the ministers who will be dropped in this reshuffle.

The long pending cabinet reshuffle will likely take place the next week. Backdoor discussions for political equations are going on since the last few weeks. CM Fadnavis met BJP national president Amit Shah twice to discuss the details. According to BJP’s ‘Mission 2019’ strategy, dropping from cabinet and also new entry will be depend on the political importance of the person.

V. Satish, senior BJP functionary has given the task to convey the message to all those ministers who will be dropped in this cabinet reshuffle. Mr Satish was also given the task of conveying to Eknath Khadse to resign when corruption charges on latter had rocked the state and damaged BJP in 2016. But this time, according to sources, Mr Satish would present political reasons to leaders and ask them to resign for party work.

There is a buzz that two to three senior ministers could be asked to resign and go back to party work. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is constantly pushing for general and assembly elections simultaneously. There is also a buzz in state politics that the state could go for elections in May 2019 at the time of general elections.
