Illegal arms factory busted, 2 arrested

Kolkata: An illegal arms factory has been busted at a mango orchard at Ashokenagar in North 24 Parganas. Two persons have been arrested. One of them, Sridam Majumdar, was caught on Tuesday, said additional superintendent of police Avijit Banerjee. “There was a specific information about him. Sridam is a resident of Pumila,” he said on Wednesday.

Nine small firearms were recovered from him.

Interrogating him the police came to know about Shreekrishnapur where the arms factory was found.

Covered by a large tarpaulin the four corners of the den were supported by bamboo poles so that the accused could flee anytime the police raided the spot.

Manik Ghosh a local resident was arrested from there.
