Heavy rains likely in West Bengal

Districts of Gangetic West Bengal are likely to experience isolated rainfall on Saturday and Sunday.

Kolkata: Heavy rainfall is likely to lash the metropolis and some districts of Gangetic Bengal on Thursday and Friday, according to the weather office.

“Heavy rainfall, along with moderate thunderstorm and lightning are very likely to occur at isolated places in the districts of East Midnapore, North 24 Parganas, South 24 Parganas and Kolkata till tomorrow,” a Met department bulletin said. Districts of Gangetic West Bengal are likely to experience isolated rainfall on Saturday and Sunday.

Sub-Himalayan districts Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Jalpaiguri, Coochbehar and Alipurduars are likely to receive heavy rainfall till Friday, following which rainfall in the region would decrease for the next few days. There was little or no rainfall in the state till 8.30 am on Thursday, with only Jalpaiguri (15.8mm), recording substantial rainfall during the period, the weather office said.
