New Delhi: Deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia’s office in Vinod Nagar area of his Patparganj constituency in East Delhi has been burgled, with the thieves decamping with computers, documents, CCTV camera DVR among others. Two computers, letter pad, hard disk, documents, digital video recorder of CCTV camera among others were stolen by the burglars who entered the premises by breaking the lock of the office. The burglary is expected to have taken place on Thursday night. The police has registered a case at the Kalyanpuri police station.

“Some materials have been stolen from the reception area of the office which is in the process of being shifted. The burglary is expected to have taken place late Thursday night. The matter is being probed,” said a senior police officer.

“The district forensic team has lifted fingerprints from the crime scene,” deputy commissioner of police (East) Omvir Singh said.

AAP worker Pankaj Singh said that the lock of the office was broken and some documents, including letterheads as well as the CPUs of two computers, were missing.

“The burglars also turned away the CCTV cameras and took away the DVRs that had the recordings,” Upendra Kumar, in-charge of the party office, said.

Mr Sisodia, later in the day, accused the Centre of “failing” to maintain law and order situation in the national capital. He said if the office of even the deputy chief minister is not safe, then what will happen to common people, adding that the incident showed “inefficiency” of Delhi police.

Slamming the Prime Minister over the incident, Mr Sisodia said that as he “boasts” about himself across the world, he then should give an answer on it (incident).

“Intention behind the burglary is the secondary question. The main question is that when the camp office of even the deputy chief minister is not safe, how will the common man feel himself safe. In the last two years, the Centre has ‘deteriorated’ the law and order situation in Delhi while Prime Minister Narendra Modi boasts about himself across the world. Modiji should now give an answer,” the deputy CM said.

The police said they received a burglary call at around 9.20 am following which a team was sent to the spot. “The whole office was ransacked and we are trying to ascertain what others item are missing. The office was locked at 2.30 am on Thursday, Upendra said. The matter is being probed, the police added.
