New Delhi: Lieutenant governor  (LG) Anil Baijal, on Monday launched ‘Mobile App 311’ for all the three municipal corporations. This app provides an excellent facility for the users of smartphones and can be downloaded from Google Play Store and Apple App Store for free.

Once downloaded, it will empower the users to find locations of public toilets, police stations, Metro stations, petrol pumps, parking, hospitals, bus stands, veterinary clinics, libraries, gyms, markets among others.

According to a senior municipal officer, the information about the location will make the lives of people comfortable as they will be able to find easy access to the desired places and avail civic services in an easy manner.

“The citizens will also be able to get in touch with emergency departments like control room, fire ambulance, disaster management, and women’s helpline. The South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC), being a nodal agency, has contributed substantially in the launch of the app for the benefit of the residents of the three civic bodies, which cover 94 per cent of the total area of the capital,” he said.

The mayors, standing committee chairmen, and municipal commissioners of the three corporations and senior officers were present in the ceremony.

Mr Baijal described the launch of App 311 as a significant moment for persons putting up complaints under the jurisdictions of the three corporations. “The launch is in accordance with the programme of digitisation being promoted by PM Narendra Modi,” the LG said.

SDMC mayor, Kamaljeet Sehrawat said the Mobile App 311 will have revolutionary effects as far as the grievance redressal system is concerned.

The civic bodies claimed that as far as the public grievance redressal system is concerned, the app provides an opportunity to the citizens to make complaint regarding any civic issue such as sweeping, cleanliness, and garbage.

“The complaints will be lodged with details along with geo-tagged photo. Once a complaint is submitted by a citizen in App 311, it will be resolved by the designated officers identified by the geo-tagged photo. The citizen will be able to check the complaint status such as assigned, on job, and resolved,” a senior civic official added.
