NEW DELHI: While intensifying their agitation against the ongoing sealing drive, the city traders will observe a “Delhi trade bandh” on March  28 and also hold a mega rally at  Ramlila Ground.

The rally will be jointly organised by All Delhi Traders’, Vyapari and Workers’ Association and Confederation of All India Traders’ (CAIT).

A core committee of 31 prominent trade leaders has been formed to ensure success of the rally, which will be headed by CAIT secretary general  Praveen Khandelwal.

Mr. Khandelwal informed that nearly 3,000 trade associations from across Delhi will be participating in the bandh and the rally.

The traders demanded the Centre to introduce a Bill or an ordinance in the current session of Parliament to put a stop to the sealing drive.

They suggested that chief minister Arvind Kejriwal should pass a Bill in the current Assembly session for moratorium on sealing and forward the same to the Centre for approval.

The traders also demanded that the AAP government should bring an “amnesty scheme” declaring the status quo as on December 31, 2017. On the other hand, the shops, which have been sealed, should be de-sealed and that the Delhi government should immediately notify 351 roads.

He also informed that the traders would take out rallies in different parts of Delhi on March 26 so as to to muster support and also to ensure, literally, the  “closure” of the capital.

Meetings and conferences will be held in various city markets from tomorrow and trade associations will take a decision on the trade bandh and the rally. Several Rally Jagran Raths will be out on the roads in different parts of Delhi messaging about the rally and bandh.

To ensure the success of both the trade bandh and the rally on March 28, the Delhi markets have been divided into 11 zones, which have prominent trade leaders as the
conveners.
