Fashion and beauty “blogging” has taken the world by storm. Bretman Rock, Zoella and Nikkie Tutorials are only some of the many successes stories of this new trend. They had the chance to turn their passion into their profession. From Get Ready with Me guides to sponsorship and ad collaborations, to photo shoots and make-up tutorials, these bloggers have found a niche amongst the social media generation. With their fan followings spread out so wide, a single upload receives millions of likes within minutes.

And this storm has hit many collegians, who have also caught onto this trend. With the power of social media on their side, and an ability to keep up with the latest fashion trends, bloggers are all set to blaze their own trail!

“I try to stay away from mainstream,” says Farah Magi, a student at Mount Carmel College in Bengaluru. On being asked if being a student serves as an advantage, she says “It’s easier to connect with people who are my age and live in the same social environment as me. So, I tailor make my content for them — affordable and functional fashion and dressing up within the context of college,” reveals Farah, who has an Instagram following of 31,000 followers.

Kavya Khashnobish, another a student from Christ University, talks about why she started her blog, “I wanted to create a body positive space and encourage people to break fashion standards and body stereotypes. And also come up with affordable and accessible fashion ideas.” Kavya’s social media following grows day by day, where she has close to 1,500 followers on Instagram.
