For millennials, wedding is no longer just a traditional ceremony. It’s also turned into a do that reflects the person’s style. And many a young bride is now making a fun, bold statement by teaming her bridal finery with funky shoes.

“Today’s modern brides are no longer ‘typical’ brides,” says Garima Arya, founder of Poshampa adding, “They are more into breaking the rules and creating their own style. Gone are the days of brides wearing painful heels all the time. Contemporary wedding shoes are becoming a style statement. Some brides are opting for hand-painted canvas sneakers that are super comfortable. There are many rituals that happen at the wedding in which a bride can be super comfy, different and stylish at the same time. Brides can add embellishments like pearls, gota, sequins, stones and embroidery work on the shoes to match their wedding lehenga to complete their look. Brides can also write their and the groom’s name on it.”

If funky canvas sneakers are not your style, then an alternate option is customised bridal juttis. Laksheeta Govil, founder and creative head of Fizzy Goblet, feels that traditionally shoes were not top priority while trousseau shopping. “What many fail to realise, or at times realise a tad bit late, are that shoes could very likely be the most important thing on your wedding day. From the comfort factor to getting that Instagram worthy picture, many brides today even plan their entire bridal ensemble around shoes and accessories,” she shares.

Now, brides can be comfortable throughout the wedding — dancing and enjoying their day, and flaunting their style right down to their shoes.
