More than the metallic belts, the ‘Caravana’ belt which is a braided leather belt certainly appeals to the young stylist.

Strike a pose with a skinny chain belt as the incredibly stylish trend makes a comeback from the ’70s right on time for the party season.
Strike a pose with a skinny chain belt as the incredibly stylish trend makes a comeback from the ’70s right on time for the party season.

The skinny chain belt comes right back into vogue with upcoming weddings and parties on the way. But, how does this trend work for fashionistas? Here’s what the fashions geeks have to say about it.

Suhasini Ganesan, an accessory designer who is into quirky and kitsch lifestyle accessories, says, “Fashion re-emerges from time to time. A similar kind of belt trend was seen during the ’70s. I remember my aunts wearing these thin belts over skirts and pants as an accessory and now, here it is back in fashion.”

Though it is the season of wool and everything cosy, one might still see people wearing them during weddings and ethnic days in colleges or even on top of a shrug or a coat. But, Suhasini would prefer pairing this skinny chain belt with an Indian outfit rather than a western one.

Ayushi Tyagi, a model and a stylist from NIFT tells us what she thinks.“The trend goes well with a Bohemian look which is in style nowadays. Wear them with long skirts and a flowy shirt on top, pairing them up with boots or white shoes,” she says.

More than the metallic belts, the ‘Caravana’ belt which is a braided leather belt certainly appeals to the young stylist. Nineteen-year-old textile major, Sneha Lakra, opines that, “People are more into simple or quirky items, like the belt by Caravana, which you can spot on many women. This belt can be very useful for skinny women  as it can be used to add some volume to the body while accentuating their slim waist lines.”

“Others should pair a looser tunic with sleeves crossing at least the short sleeve threshold with a more flared or an A-line midi/knee length skirt instead of a short skirt because then their bodies wouldn’t look too unbalanced and the bulk added because of the top and belt would gradually fade out nicely,” adds Sneha.
