Gorkha Janmukti Morcha chief Bimal Gurung on Monday said he was ready to join hands with the CPI(M) and Congress to defeat Trinamul Congress in Terai and Dooars in North Bengal.

Gorkha Janmukti Morcha chief Bimal Gurung on Monday said he was ready to join hands with the CPI(M) and Congress to defeat Trinamul Congress in Terai and Dooars in North Bengal. “Chief minister Mamata Banerjee is indulging in the politics of divide and rule in the Hills. Therefore, the GJM has decided to join all anti-Trinamul Congress forces. If there is a need we can enter into an alliance with CPI(M) and Congress to defeat TMC,” Mr Gurung said. He was speaking on the sidelines of a meeting of party workers of Terai and Siliguri units at Dagapur on Monday afternoon. Alleging that Ms Banerjee has been constantly violating the GTA, Mr Gurung said that now the GJM would give a befitting reply to the ruling Trinamul Congress in the coming Assembly election.

In 2011, GJM had supported the TMC in several constituencies located in Dooars and Terai which have a sizeable population of Nepali people.
