Pakistan’s Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif lashed out at Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan saying his party’s mandate was “dancing on containers” referring to the former cricketer’s frequent speeches atop containers at rallies and his upcoming plan to shut down Islamabad while leading a rally in a container. Addressing Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) General Council after being elected unopposed as party president, Nawaz Sharif said the nation was searching for the man who vowed to make “Naya (new) Pakistan” — referring to Imran Khan’s slogan.

“We will carry on constructing roads while PTI will continue roaming on them. Today’s Pakistan is far better than in 2013 due to prudent policies adopted by the incumbent government,” he said.

Mr Sharif thanked the party leaders and members for reposing confidence in his leadership. He said he will try his best to come up to the expectations and aspirations of the party and the people.

He said Pakistan Stock Exchange was one of the five best performing markets of the world, foreign exchange reserves have crossed twenty-four billion dollars and inflation has also declined as compare to 2013, he added.
