Pakistan firing up since Modi government

Ceasefire violations by Pakistan along the International Border in Jammu and Kashmir have witnessed a sharp rise since the Modi government came to power with official figures revealing that ceasefire

Ceasefire violations by Pakistan along the International Border in Jammu and Kashmir have witnessed a sharp rise since the Modi government came to power with official figures revealing that ceasefire violations so far this year (at 192) are more than the total ceasefire violations that occurred in the years 2012 and 2013 combined (169) when the UPA government was in power.

There have been 192 ceasefire violations so far this year up to July 26 while there were only 148 ceasefire violations in the year 2013 and 21 ceasefire violations in the entire 2012. In 2014, there was a sudden spike with 430 ceasefire violations temporarily affecting 2,08,000 persons, the Union home ministry informed Parliament on Tuesday.

This year’s figures showing 192 ceasefire violations at the International Border by Pakistan are till July 26. In a written reply in Lok Sabha, minister of state for home Haribhai Chaudhary said four persons, including three civilians and one BSF personnel were killed while 22 civilians and two BSF personnel were injured in the ceasefire violations so far this year. Such ceasefire violations by Pakistan have damaged 50 houses and affected 7,110 persons.
