Naxals plan to abduct VIPs

A large group of Naxals from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh have infiltrated into Chhattisgarh’s conflict zone of Bastar to stop security forces from making inroads into their stronghold, an alert sounded by the intelligence said.

“Around 250 Maoist guerrillas drawn from North Telangana State Committee and Andhra Orissa Border Committee of CPI (Maoist) have been dispatched to south Bastar to prevent security forces from making further advances into their bastions in the region in the wake of a series of reverses suffered by them in the encounters with the security forces in the area recently,” a senior police officer quoting intelligence reports told the newspaper.

“They are planning to abduct VIPs such as local district collectors, police officers and senior political leaders to force security forces to retreat,” the intelligence has warned.
