Germany has backed India on surgical strikes in Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir (PoK), with the country’s envoy Martin Ney saying that “every state has the right to defend itself against international terrorism” and that “when it comes to counter terrorism, Germany stands side by side with its strategic partner India”. In a veiled reference to Pakistan, the envoy said, “every state has the legal obligation to make sure that from the territory it controls, no terrorism emanates”. Germany is the latest in a host of nations who have backed India in the wake of the surgical strikes following the Uri terror attack, marking another victory of the Modi Government’s diplomacy.
