ED quizzes Chhagan Bhujbal son for 8 hours

NCP leader Chhagan Bhujbal’s son Pankaj was interrogated by ED officials for more than eight hours on Tuesday in connection with the money laundering case registered against him and others in the Maharashtra Sadan scam.

Mr Bhujbal’s chartered accountant accompanied him. A source in the ED said that Mr Bhujbal could be called for further questioning again if the officials need more clarifications in the matter.

ED officials also conducted raids on Tuesday on two properties of the Bhujbal family in Pune and Mumbai. However, sources from the Mumbai team said that they did not get anything from the raid that could have helped them in the investigation.

“I am ready to cooperate with the officials and help in the investigation,” Mr Bhujbal said while leaving the ED office on Tuesday.

According to sources, Mr Chhagan Bhujbal may also be called in for the investigation in the Maharashtra Sadan case.

Mr Pankaj Bhujbal, an MLA, has been named in the FIR filed by ED, along his father and former state PWD minister Chhagan Bhujbal. ED had twice conducted searches at nine properties belonging to the Bhujbal family.

Around 60 supporters of Mr Pankaj Bhujbal had gathered outside the ED office on Tuesday, shouting slogans in favour of their leader. As the commotion was getting out of hand, police officials arrested six supporters under but they were released on bail later during the day. There were 70 police officials including SRPF force to control the situation at the site.
