Dalit couple hacked to death over Rs 15

Grocery shop owner Ashok Misra, who allegedly killed the couple, has been arrested. According to police reports, the incident took place around 6 am when the couple went to the grocery store to buy some daily household items.

The shopkeeper asked for Rs 15 which the couple owed to him and soon got involved in a heated argument with them.

In a fit of rage, Misra picked up an axe and kept attacking the couple till they collapsed on the road.

Some local people rushed the profusely bleeding couple to a nearby hospital where the doctor declared them brought dead.

The accused was arrested shortly after the incident. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem.

Mainpuri is the constituency of Tej Pratap Yadav, grandnephew of Samajwadi Party president Mulayam Singh Yadav.
