Bihar: Man shoots stepmother dead over property dispute, commits suicide

Munger: A 25-year-old man on Thursday shot dead his stepmother and then committed suicide by shooting himself in Bihar's Munger district, a senior police officer said.

Superintendent of Police Ashish Bharti said that the deceased has been identified as Rahul Kumar (25) and his stepmother as Mamta Devi (40).

The incident which occurred at Bisahri Asthan area under Kharagpur police station limits of the district, could be the fallout of property dispute, the SP said adding that both stepmother and son used to have quarrels over the division of property.

Both stepmother and son had an altercation on Thursday also after which the son (Rahul Kumar) shot dead his stepmother (Mamta Devi) and shot himself down later, he said.

Both the bodies have been sent to Munger sadar hospital for post-mortem, SP said adding that police was investigating the matter.
