New Delhi: A two-day meeting of the BJP’s national office-bearers commenced on Friday, focusing on the party's readiness for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and planning upcoming programmes. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and National President J.P. Nadda attended the closed-door meeting.

The extensive meeting, lasting over five hours, saw Modi addressing party leaders, encouraging them to strive for a hat-trick victory in 2024. Nadda chaired the session, during which various party wings and state units provided updates on ongoing organisational activities. Senior leaders offered guidance to these units, with a keen eye on the approaching elections.

Nadda later said in a post on X, “The BJP is advancing on the path to build a developed India by empowering the country's main pillars of youth, women, farmers and poor under the prime minister's guidance.”

Amidst reports of discord in the Opposition camp over seat-sharing, speculation is circulating that the BJP might maintain its practice of announcing some Lok Sabha candidates before the Election Commission declares the election schedule. The party has initiated its candidate selection process, conducting a 'Jan Man' survey through the NaMo app to gather feedback on the Modi government's performance and the work of representatives in Parliament and their respective constituencies.

There is a buzz within the party that the central election committee could reveal candidates for 160 parliamentary seats where the BJP has not previously won or secured a second position. Additionally, there are speculations that the party might announce candidates for seats considered strongholds of Opposition parties.

The leadership will also assess the progress of the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra and preparations for the celebration of Bharat Ratna recipient and former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's birth anniversary on December 25, recognised as 'Good Governance Day' by the government.

Sources indicate that Modi highlighted the importance of the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra's goal — the successful implementation of government schemes.
