Lucknow: With the Yogi government following the “more work, less play” concept , about 17 public holidays have been struck off the government holiday list for 2018.

The state government on Tuesday had reduced religious holidays for Madrasas in the state.

The holidays that have been deleted from the like include mainly the anniversaries of various leaders.

The CM, last year, had said that holidays on anniversaries of leaders would be done away and students, instead, would learn about the lives of great men on their anniversaries.

According to the official holiday list, the holidays that have been scrapped included New Year’s Day and the anniversary of socialist leader Karpooori Thakur in January.

In April, the state has deleted five holidays from the list — Maha-rishi Kashyap Jayanti, the Cheti Chand festival, Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti Urs, Chandra Shekhar Jayanti and Parshuram Jayanti.
