At AIIMS, Asaram compares nurse to butter, her cheeks to Kashmiri apples

Self-styled godman Asaram, who is accused of raping a 16-year-old girl at his ashram, is known to make outrageous remarks about women.

New Delhi: Rape accused self-styled godman Asaram, who is currently admitted in All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) for a medical examination, reportedly likened a nurse to butter, and her cheeks to Kashmiri apples.

According to reports, when the nurse brought Asaram bread and butter before his checkup, he said, “Why is there a need to bring butter with the bread when you are as soft as butter You must be from Kashmir because your cheeks are as red as Kashmiri apples and tomatoes.”

Asaram, who is accused of raping a 16-year-old girl at his ashram, is known to make outrageous remarks about women. Speaking about the victim of the Delhi gangrape of 2012, he said the victim “should have taken God’s name and could have held the hand of one of the men and said ‘I consider you as my brother’”.

Asaram and his men also held up a Jet Airways flight for two hours recently by creating a ruckus on the plane.

The Supreme Court had on August 29 allowed Asaram to be taken to AIIMS Delhi from Jodhpur jail for medical examination, after a team of doctors informed the top court that requisite equipment for evaluation of Asaram's medical condition was unavailable in Jodhpur jail.

On August 11, the apex court had denied interim bail to Asaram in a rape case and directed AIIMS to set up a medical board to ascertain his health condition.

Asaram was arrested by Jodhpur Police on August 31, 2013 following a teenaged girl’s complaint that he raped her at his ashram between 1997 and 2006.
