Demi Lovato has been slapped with a lawsuit filed by Indie-rock band Sleigh Bells for copyright infringement.

In the complaint filed, Sleigh Bells accuses Lovato and her collaborators of lifting material from Infinity Guitars to create Stars.

The complaint, which was obtained by EOnline.com, alleges that the similarities between the two tracks “transcend the realm of coincidence.” According to the lawsuit, “a comparison of the two songs reveals that, at the very least, the combination of the hand claps and bass drum, structured as three quarter beats and a rest, with the bass drum providing a counter-rhythm to the hand claps, is at least substantially similar in both works. This infringing material repeats throughout the Defendants’ song.”

Shortly after the song was released late last year, the band tweeted the following: “Flattered you guys sampled ‘Infinity Guitars’ and ‘Riot Rhythm’ for ‘Stars’ but we were not contacted. Gotta clear those.”
