Thandie Newton silenced on abuse

English actress Thandie Newton has, in the past, opened up about her encounters of sexual abuse. Now, the RocknRolla actress has revealed that she was once asked not to speak about it in public, as it would affect her job opportunities.

Speaking with the Radio Times, Thandie said, “I’m someone who has spoken out about my abuse and people didn’t like it one bit. People have told me to stop and I have felt it did affect whether I was getting employed or not… But I hope that somewhere a mum taking her kid to the set will just be that little bit more aware.”
