Ranveer Singh to play Sam Manekshaw

Newly married couple Deepika Padukone and  Ranveer Singh have something in common to share in 2018.  It is director Meghna Gulzar who will be directing both Ranveer and Deepika, though not in the same film.

While Deepika will be directed by Meghna in a biopic on the acid-attack victim Laxmi Aggrawal, Ranveer will be directed soon after that by the Raazi director in a biopic on the life and glory of field marshal Sam Manekshaw.

Sources say the Manekshaw biopic will be a costly project, as it requires elaborate recreation of real war sequences. Ranveer will have to get into heavy preparation for the part, both emotionally and physically.

A director he is very close to says, “Ranveer is the right fit for playing Field Marshal Manekshaw.  But he will have curb his natural exuberance for a bit. As gravitas is a must for this role. General Manekshaw is a national hero, revered and iconized. The film can’t afford to go wrong.”

We are sure Ranveer would be up to the task.
