Arjun Kapoor to star in Arjun Reddy remake?

After much speculation with regards to other Bollywood actors, it looks like Arjun Kapoor is finally on board for the Hindi remake of Sandeep Vanga’s Telugu hit Arjun Reddy.

A source says, “Yes, it’s true. Though it has taken three-four months of continuous and tireless efforts, the rights have worked out. Murad Khetani (the producer) has officially bagged it but Arjun too put in his share of efforts to ensure that the rights came through.”

Revealing about the plotline, the source adds, “The movie will be like Rockstar meets Dev.D. Also, the film’s rights have been bought at a high price. It’s not going to be a typical masala potboiler. Arjun doesn’t want to overburden the project with his fee. He doesn’t want the budget to become an impediment and instead aims to see a quality film minus any compromises.”

“Arjun had worked on the profit-sharing basis in Ki & Ka as well, but this time he wants his involvement to be more pronounced. Considering the fact that Arjun Reddy got an A certificate, the Hindi version will also be a mature and sensitive film with an intense love story at its heart,” further adds the source.

It has been said that Arjun will meet the producers of the film to have a talk about the possible collaboration.

“There are chances that the original film’s director (Sandeep) will helm this version too, but all such details — including when the film goes on the floor — will be decided upon when the makers and Arjun meet later this month or early on in February,” the source says.

The original film had Vijay Deverakonda and Shalini Pandey in lead roles. Arjun Reddy tells the story of a young and brilliant medico titular character, who has anger management issues. The film deals with the contemporary issues in urban youth upon love failure. It received critical acclaim and gained a cult following among youth in two Telugu states.
