Controversy continues to shroud Om Puri

Most people who knew Om Puri — the actor and the person — agree that his he didn’t deserve a departure as unceremonious as the one he got. Controversy continues to haunt him even after his he’s gone. Apparently his last few days were spent ruing the backlash he received after his soldier gaffe on a national television news channel. The veteran was mighty upset about the unintended trauma he had caused and even conducted a havan with a martyr’s family, which was later misconstrued as a publicity gimmick. Now the statements made by his wife Nandita about still being legally married to him and claiming that Om Puri had only one wife, is perhaps a precursor to a legal battle for property and other rights. After a tumultuous last few days, we hope the actor finally rests in peace.
