Actress-turned-author Twinkle Khanna, who’s most popular for her debut novel Mrs Funnybones, has come out with her third book titled Pyjamas Are Forgiving. At the book launch event, she was dressed in a multi-coloured outfit, which she said was to celebrate the decriminalisation of a part of Section 377.

Introducing the book, Twinkle said, “The book is about a woman finding a place in the world, and finding redemption, but not finding a man. It’s set in a stringent ayurvedic retreat, and I find that premise very interesting. In a confined environment, your emotions always run high. At this point in life, it is not enough that I am leading a self-sufficient life and have achieved equality in my life. I want to help other women achieve that. That’s redemption.”

The author whose tongue-in-cheek humour has got her into trouble in the past added, “I don’t think I have written anything that will offend anyone. It’s all in good jest, and I hope everyone enjoys their read.”

Asked if she hopes to see her books brought to life on celluloid, she said, “Writing is what I love to do. I think I have done that to the best of my ability. It’s not necessary for all books to be portrayed on reel.”

The actress also spoke about how much things have changed since she was a kid. “The freedom we enjoyed then was awesome. We could move around freely in our neighbourhood, cycle all over the place, and even travel by train. But today, our children are getting recognition at such an early age, and that’s dangerous. I fear for their safety. It’s a conscious decision to keep my children away from the paparazzi.”
