‘No tickets to criminal candidates’

Ahead of the Assembly polls in Delhi, some Congress MLAs and many MLA aspirants are in trouble as the party’s state unit chief on Monday declared that he will follow Rahul Gandhi’s instruction of zero tolerance against applicants with criminal cases. “We will avoid candidates with criminal background and also we will try not to give ticket to any parachute candidate,” DPCC chief Mr J.P. Aggrwal said.

Ahead of the Assembly polls in Delhi, some Congress MLAs and many MLA aspirants are in trouble as the party’s state unit chief on Monday declared that he will follow Rahul Gandhi’s instruction of zero tolerance against applicants with criminal cases. “We will avoid candidates with criminal background and also we will try not to give ticket to any parachute candidate,” DPCC chief Mr J.P. Aggrwal said. Many sitting MLAs, including Okhla MLA Asif Mohammad Khan, who has recently joined the party, may face trouble in getting party ticket as around 14 serious criminal cases registered against him. Apart from him, Congress MLA from Kotla Mubarakpur Niraj Baisioya, Devendra Yadav from Samaypur Badali, Dayanand Chandila from Rajouri Garden and few others have more than six serious criminal cases pending against them. Meanwhile, sources say the party office is flooded with the application forms from the constituency lost during last Assembly polls. Surprisingly, around three or four applications have been received from New Delhi area, constituency of CM Sheila Dikshit.
