Two firefighters are still feared trapped under the debris of a plastic factory in outer Delhi’s Narela, even as rescue operations continued two days after a fire triggered its collapse in which one labourer was killed. One persons had died in building-collapse.

“The rescue operations are still continuing as two firemen are feared trapped under the rubble. A crane is being used to remove the debris,” said a senior police officer. The fire in the three-storeyed building, a plastic factory, was reported on Wednesday and 35 fire tenders were rushed to douse the blaze, which led to the collapse of the building leaving a labourer Sanjan Kumar dead and five others, including three firefighters injured.

While the operations were on, the top floor of the building collapsed and six people, including two fire department officers, were trapped under the debris. An electrical short-circuit is believed to be the reason behind the fire.

More than 150 firefighters have been on duty since Wednesday night. Health minister Satyendar Jain had also visited the spot Thursday morning.
