To ascertain the cause of Rajat Menon’s death, doctors sent the victim’s heart tissues for a pathology test on Monday.

In Rajat’s autopsy report, no external or internal injuries were found on his body. Doctors have preserved his viscera for medical examination to find out the cause of his death.

“We suspect that Rajat might have died due to a cardiac arrest. The pathology report of the heart tissues will help clear suspicion about the cause of his death. It has been found that sometimes capillaries in the human heart get choked due to a sudden shock. The confusion will be get cleared after the pathology report that is expected to be available by the weekend,” said a senior police officer.

Of the two brothers, who have been arrested in the case, the elder brother, identified as Alok, will be treated as an adult because his educational certificates have confirmed that he is above 18 years. The police has sought permission to charge the second brother as an adult too. “We have written to the Juvenile Justice Board to treat the younger brother, who is 16 years old, as an adult because he was aware of the consequences of the crime he was committing with his brother,” said the police officer.

When this newspaper approached a senior police officer about the allegations by Mayur Vihar residents over drugs being available openly in the area, he said, “We have verified the claims of complainants and not a single case of drug sale was found. We have deployed policemen in civil dress to identify such shops that are involved in the sale of drugs.”

“We also investigated whether there were any complaints about rampant sale of drugs in the area at any police station in Mayur Vihar in which the concerned policemen had not taken any action. No such complaints were found. Not a single complainant was able to provide any copy of written complaints about the sale of drugs that they had reported to their local police station,” the officere added.
